Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026. This policy explains what Returns Performance collects, why, and what you can do about it. This page is a starting draft for a real business — have a lawyer review it before public launch.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name and email address, and a hashed password (we do not store passwords in plain text).
- Claim information: offers you claim, retailer return labels you upload, prepaid labels we provide, messages on your claims, warehouse results, and merchandise disposition notes.
- Payout information: the manual payout method you choose (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App) and the detail you provide for it — PayPal email or phone, Venmo phone number, Zelle email or phone, or Cash App $tag — plus transaction references and paid dates when an admin records a payment. We do not collect bank account numbers for manual payouts.
- Brand inquiries: name, brand, email, sales channel, and message submitted through the homepage inquiry form.
- Technical information: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, and basic server logs needed to run the site securely.
2. How we use it
To run tests, communicate about claims, send the email notifications you have turned on, provide prepaid labels, pay testers, report results to brands, and keep the platform secure. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Sharing
- Brands: a brand receives test results for its own products, including whether a return was detected or missed and merchandise disposition — not your payout details beyond what is needed to pay you.
- Payment providers: when you are paid manually, the payout detail you provided is used with the provider you chose (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App) to send the payment. If Stripe Connect is added later, Stripe will collect its own onboarding and bank information directly from you under Stripe's privacy policy.
- Email provider: if email notifications are configured, notification emails are sent through an email service provider (currently Resend, when a key is configured) using your email address and the notification text.
- Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the platform, brands, or testers from fraud or misuse.
4. Email notifications and your choices
You can turn individual email notifications on or off in your dashboard under Notification settings: new offers, messages, label uploads, claim updates, payouts, and (for admins) brand inquiries. Turning a notification off stops both the email and the in-app notification for that type. You can also mark notifications as read in your dashboard.
5. Retention and security
We keep claim, message, label, and payout records for as long as needed to operate the service, report to brands, and resolve payment or dispute questions, then delete or anonymize them when no longer needed. Uploaded labels are stored on the server and are downloadable only by the claim's tester and by admins. No system is perfectly secure, so do not upload anything beyond what a claim requires.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to correct your account or payout details, or to close your account, through your dashboard messages or the homepage inquiry form. Closing an account does not erase records we must keep for payment, tax, or legal reasons.
7. Children
Returns Performance is not intended for children under 18. Do not use the service if you are under 18.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the updated version here. Contact us through the brand inquiry form on the homepage or through your dashboard messages.
